Holiness is not something we strive for in order to score points with God. In fact, it is only when we take a serious look at God's sacrifice of his Son for us, and God's absolute perfection, that we are motivated to pursue holiness. And holiness is not just a list of things to do or not do. It is a lifelong process of "mortification" or putting to death the things that our flesh wants to pursue.
